Thermal Comfort Scheme 

(Now open)

Free insulation measures: Grant of up to £1600 towards a package of measures to include: 

  • Cavity wall insulation

  • Loft insulation

  • Hot water cylinder jacket

  • Energy saving light bulbs

  • Draught proofing

Who qualifies: Low-income households. Must be homeowner or private tenant.

Income criteria:

  • A single person household with an income / pension of less than £25,000 gross

  • Couple or single parent family with an income / pension of less than £35,000 gross

  • Single person household/ couple with an income/ pension less than £35,000 gross AND over 65 years of age

Affordable Warmth Scheme

There is help available to help you pay for energy-efficiency improvements on your home. The Government Affordable Warmth Scheme is available to residents of Northern Ireland with a gross household income of less than £20,000 per year. If you rent privately, you may also be eligible for this scheme. There is a range of energy-efficiency products and services that can avail of Government support, bespoke to each household.

£250 cashback Insulation Grant scheme

Insulation measures: £250 off the cost of cavity wall insulation and £250 off the cost of loft insulation.

Households that do not qualify for a priority scheme. Must be homeowner or private tenant



The scheme is open to owner occupiers whose household income is less than £40,000 and who have an inefficient boiler of at least 15 years old.

The grant of up to £1,000 dependent on total gross annual income is available to help with replacing an inefficient boiler with a more energy efficient condensing oil or gas boiler; switching from oil to gas; or switching to a wood pellet boiler.

The amount of grant payable will depend on total gross income. For those earning less than £20,000 the grant is £700 to replace the boiler but will rise to £1,000 if controls are also being installed.

For those earning over £20,000 but less than £40,000 the grant is £400 for the boiler but will rise to £500 if controls are installed.
